昨日はハロウィーンだったので、The Rocky Horror Picture Showを観に行ってきました。１０年前に初めて見ました。今年は３０周年らしいです。ロンドンでは今でも毎週末上映されています。観客が参加するカルトミュージカル映画で、最初観た時は何をしたら良いかわかりませんでした。観客はセリフを言います。例えば、スーザン・サランドンがスクリーンに出てきたら、スクリーンに向かって「スラット（売春婦）！」と叫びます。スクリーンの前では、地元の俳優達が映画を再現します。
It was Halloween yesterday and we went to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was 10 years ago when I watched this film for the first time. Apparently this year is the 30th anniversary. The show has still been on on every weekend in London. It’s a cult musical film and audiences participate in the film. I didn’t have any clue for what I had to do. We, audiences, speak their part. For example, you shout “Sluuut!” at the screen when Susan Sarandon is on the screen. At the front of the screen, local actors act exactly as the film.

Lots of people dress up as the characters of the film.
ダンスのシーンが出てきたら、みんな盆踊りのように決まったパターンを踊ります。
People dance a fixed pattern (like Japanese Bonodori) when the show comes to the dancing scene.
結婚式のシーンになると、観客は米を投げます。トースト（乾杯）の場面が出てきたら、パンのトーストを投げます。トーストが空に飛びまくってました。皆さん、仕込みが充当です。
来年はコスチュームを着て、米、トースト、水鉄砲、トイレットペーパーを持って行きたいと思います。
When the wedding scene appears on the screen, audiences throw rice. When it’s the scene of raising a toast, people throw toasted bread. So many toasts were flying in the air. Everybody was well prepared.
Next year I would like to wear a costume, and bring rice, toasts, a water gun and toilet rolls.
昨日見たハロウィーンのベスト・コスチューム。Futuramaに出てくるBender。お腹からアルコールのボトル出してたし。
The best Halloween costume I saw yesterday. It’s Bender from Futurama. The robot took out an bottle of alcohol from his stomach.
フランス最後の日はカレーに泊まった。カレーは寂びれた港町。唯一観たかったのはカレー市庁前にあるロダンの傑作「カレーの市民」。

We stayed at Calais on the last day in France. Calais is a deserted port town. We wanted to see one thing, Rodin’s masterpiece, “The Burghers of Calais”, which was in front of the city hall.
(the following is a quote from Wikipedia) It serves as a monument to an occurrence in 1347 during the Hundred Years War, when Calais was under siege by the English. England offered to spare the city if six influential men, wearing nooses around their necks, would turn over the keys to the city and castle, as well as their lives. Though the burghers expected to be executed, their lives were spared by the intervention of England’s Queen.
This sculpure was ordered by Calais city and they asked to make a heroic sculpture. Rodin igonred this request and he expressed the heros’ fear and anguish when they were facing their death.

There was a chateau (a large French country house or castle often giving its name to wine made in its neighborhood) in the other neighbouring village.

村にはパン屋さんがないので、毎朝このパン屋さんがパンを売りに来ます。
There is no bread shop in the village so this boulangerie comes to the village every morning to sell their bread.
スコットランドの作家、Robert Louis StevensonがロバのModestineと旅した、Le Puy En Valley（場所は29日記事の地図参照）。Notre Dame Le Puy 大聖堂はユネスコの世界遺産で、毎年60万人訪れる。
Le Puy En Valley (refer to the map of the article on Oct 29th) where a Scottish writer, Robert Louis Stevenson travelled with a donkey, Modestine. The Cathedral of Notre Dame Le Pus is one of Unesco’s world heritage sites, and 600,000 people visit there every year.

We got hungry from lots of walking. We decided to go to this restaurant since it was very crowded.
Le Puy En Valleyの地図がテーブルマット。地ビールおいしかったです。

チェリーパイもおいしかったです。

Issoireを訪ねた。今年のツール・ド・フランス、第19ステージはIssoireからLe Puy En Valleyまででした。見たかったな〜、アームストロング。
We visited Issoire. The 19th stage of the Tour de France this year was from Issoire to Le Puy En Valley. I wish I could see Armstrong.
Issoireに着いて、まずはコーヒーを。フランスではスタバを見かけなかった。ネットで調べてみると、フランス全土に１６軒しかなかった。バンクーバー周辺には約150軒ある。
We had coffee as soon as we got there. I didn’t see Starbucks in France. I checked on the net and found there were only 16 Starbucks in France. There are about 150 Starbucks around Vancouver.
