旅行前夜にArctic Monkeysのライブに行った。Wikipediaによると、彼らはイギリス、Sheffieldの出身。バンドは４人の男性で構成されている。Alex Turner （1986年生まれ、ボーカル、リードギター）とJamie Cook（バックボーカル、メインギター）が2002年に両親にクリスマスプレゼントとしてギターを買ってもらったところからバンドの歴史は始まる。翌年ライブを開始し、自分たちの音楽を無料でＣＤで配り一気にネットの口コミで人気が出た。大手レコード会社とは契約せず、インディペンデントレーベル、Domino Recordsと契約した。このレーベルでは、経営者のLawrence Bellが気に入った音楽しか売らないそうだ。 Franz Ferdinand もこのレーベルに所属する。
ライブが始まって、ボーカルのAlexは、”if you are happy we are happy.”（君達がハッピーだったら、僕らもハッピー）と言った。彼らのクールな態度と自信が好き。曲の合間に、Alex は言った。”We are amazing, aren’t we? （俺らってびっくりするくらいすごいだろ？）” ほんとにびっくりするくらいすごかった。約40分後、アンコールなしにライブは終わった。アンコールなしのほうがいい。夫の妹は彼らの歌詞が好きだと言っていた。
彼らのレーベルが主催する、ライブ写真のコンテストにこの写真を応募した。ツアーが行われた各都市に一人最優秀賞者が決まる。昨日、バンクーバーでは私が選ばれたとレーベル会社からメイルが来た。この写真はこちらに掲載された。賞品も貰えるらしい。昨日はとてもハッピーな夜だった。

ライブに一緒に言ったK夫婦はライブ前に夕食に招待してくれた。前菜は洋梨、くるみとスティルトンチーズ。すごい素敵な組み合わせだった。メインはタイ（？）風牛肉といんげんの炒め物。シェフのミスターKはシュリンプペーストが入っていると教えてくれた。これもまたとてもおいしかった。いつもありがとう！
We went to the concert of Arctic Monkeys. According to Wikipedia, they are from Sheffield, England. The band is consisted of four men. The history of the band started when Alex Turner (vocal, lead guitar) and Jamie Cook (back vocal and main guitar) got a guitar for Christmas present in 2002. Then they started to their show in the next year, distributing their music CD free and they became popular by the word of mouth over the net. They didn’t make contracts with big music labels. They signed with an independent label called Domino Records. They only sells music of bands which the owner, Laurence Bell is attracted to. Franz Ferdinand belongs to this label as well.
When their concert started the vocal, Alex said, “If you are happy we are happy.” I like their cool attitude and confidence. Alex also said, “We are amazing, aren’t we?”, and they WERE amazing. After about 40 minutes, they finished without encore. I liked it without encore. My sister in law said she likes their lyrics.
I sent this photo to their tour photo contest hosted by their record label. There is a winner in each city where they had a show. I received an e-mail from the label that I am the winner in Vancouver. This photo was published on this web site. Also I will receive some prize. Last night was a very happy night for me.

We went to the show with Mr. & Mrs. K and they cooked dinner for us before the show. The appetizer was baked pear with Stilton cheese and walnut. It was a very nice combination of the tastes. The main was Thai (?) style beef and beans. The chef, Mr. K said the recipe had lots of shrimp paste. It was VERY tasty. Thanks always!
