アカデミー賞主演男優賞を穫ったCapoteを観た。主人公Truman CapoteはNew Yorker誌の人気ライターであり、「ティファニーで朝食を」の筆者であることで知られる。この映画はCapoteが、カンザス州で起こった一家惨殺事件を新聞で読み、この事件について書こうとする所から始まる。犯人であるPerry Smithに刑務所で何度も面会し、事件の全容と動機を知るために、Capoteは刑の軽減のために多大な援助を提供する。犯人が惨殺者であるという真実と犯人への同情の間で揺らぐCapoteの葛藤がこの映画の見どころだろうか。
監督のBennett Millerは1966年生まれの若手監督。監督作品も他にThe Cruiseという映画があるだけだ。Truman Capoteが生きた1960年代のアメリカ、特にニューヨークの町並みが再現されているのが素晴らしかった。
We watched Capote which won the Oscar for the best actor’s award. The main character, Truman Capote is best known as a writer on The New Yorker, and the author of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. This film started with Capote reading an article about the killing of an entire family in Kansas, and decided to write about the incident. He visited prison to see the killer, Perry Smith, many times. To know the truth and the motivation of the killing, Capote provided great support to commute the punishment. The point of this film might be Capote’s conflict between his compassion for the criminal and the truth that he is the brutal murderer.
The director, Bennett Miller is a young director who was born in 1966. There is only one other of his directed works called The Cruise. It was wonderful to see the recreation of 60’s America, especially the city of New York.

素敵な映画評論ですね．．日本では秋の上映のようです．．
最近、日本映画ばかりだったので、見てみたい映画に
くわえたいと思います．．ＣＧバリバリの映画って目眩がするので
敬遠気味です．．こういったじっくりと取り組んだモノがいいですね
１９６０年代のＮＹなんですね．．ここもポイントですね．．

CGバリバリで、動作の早さについていくのに目眩がしました。

オリジナルのキングコングですね．．
今見ると．．絵的には、幼稚に思えますが．．
味がありましたね．．
日本でいうと、ゴジラの第一作が凄かったのと
一緒です．．
